Open Question: Problem connecting laptop & PS3 to Netgear wireless router/modem..?

Hi everyone I`m running Win XP SP 3 and a Netgear DGN 2000 wireless router/modem. The problem i`m having is that i can`t seem to get my laptop or my PS3 to connect to the wireless router. It did work before, but i had to reinstall XP cos of a virus on my PC, since then i can`t get a connection to the router at all unless i use a network cable. I didn`t change any settings on my router after the reinstall, i just left as it was, all i did was log on to the Netgear Login web page and my settings were all there. How can i get my connections back as they were? I have read a few replies on here about resetting the router back to factory settings and then reinstalling the router as if it were new. would this work for me? Any help is appreciated. Open Question: Ideas for removing pop-up virus?

Hi guys Am at the end of my tether with my laptop. Since my husband downloaded a game on facebook we have had a pop-up virus. Pages are randomly loaded either on top or behind of the page I'm using and quite often this means the internet has to close completely. The pages are being loaded through incentaclick.com. I had McAfee (free with my internet) but this could not even find the virus on a scan. I have therefore switched to AVG but although the scan found the virus and removed it, it did not work. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of this would be gratefully received. Many thanks! Thanks guys. Have tried Windows Defender and no luck. Open Question: HELP WITH UBUNTU 9.04 ERROR 22!?

I have a Dell Latitude D420 laptop (which has no CD/DVD drive). I have Windows Vista Ultimate installed on it, and I recently installed Ubuuntu 9.04 on it about a month ago. I was running out of disk space, so I decided to remove Ubuntu. I deleted the Ubuntu partitions using Disk Management, put all the free space into the Vista partition, and uninstalled Ubuntu from the Programs and Features list under Control Panel. I turned off my laptop, and when I turned it back on it said "GRUB loading, please wait... Error 22" I installed Ubuntu using UNetbootin from a USB Flash drive, so there is no option to start using recovery mode. Is there any way of using recovery mode on Vista through the USB? P.S. I only have one Hard Drive and I DON'T WANT TO LOSE ANY OF MY DATA ON VISTA. Is this possible? PLEASE HELP!!! more

ok so i got the linksys wireless game adapter for my xbox 360. it works when im at my moms house cause it finds the wireless thing and it gets connection but when i go to my dads it cant find the network and im not sure why. i have tried every single channel and it still wont find a wirless connection. Open Question: why does my laptop have such poor performance?

I have a Dell Latitude D505. When i got it, it was previously used for a friends moms working purposes..it was a rather fast computer, i ran World of Warcraft, Conquer Online (and its many private servers), Cabal Online, Perfect World, Knight Online, ect. All while running multiple internet windows, aim, msn sometimes..i never had problems, and as you can see i was using alot of ram. Well recently the HD died on me rather abrutply, it was a 60gig 7200 travelstar. When i took it to the guy who gave it to me he said there was a dormant virus on it and thats what killed the HD. So i later bought a new one (80gig seagate i think, 5400) and installed windows on it, completely clean HD. Heres the problems; Everytime i open My Documents it hangs for about a full minute and a half and i cant do anything but wait for it. When i open my IE browser it takes about 2 minutes to load..then it hangs on every page no matter how big or small it is. Video is always laggy even if its 15 seconds long..it lags as if im running 50 programs all at once. Most importantly i cant run ANY games at all...not even conquer online and thats the smallest game ive ever run. I just wanna know why and maybe how i can fix it =/ Anything is greatly appreciated. Processor: intel pentium M, 1.60GHz (under that it says 1.59GHz idk why..) 1 gig of ram. Also i cant find any settings to change the hard drive to udma, i acually dont even know if its in pio or not i cant find anything about it. :x And ive checked my laptop for virus's with 2 diff programs, i have an avast and COMODO firewall up at all times. my HDD is running at 31mb a sec more

Ever since today, internet didn't work. I tried the Windows Network Diagnostics, and it said (the above). I use a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed. I don't even have a cable plugged into it. I use a Linksys Wireless Router (Broadband 2.4 GHz). My installed Internet Wireless LAN adapter is a "BroadCom 802.11 Wireless LAN Adapter". Last thing is that my computer has a little switch on the side that turns red when you want to turn off wireless, and then turns blue if you switch it to right to turn on Wireless. I use a HP Pavillion dv6000. Even when I switch the to the wireless side, it is still red! By the Way, I use Vista Home Premium. Please Help! more

Somebody gave me a Dell Vista business CD with a Sticker that has the product key on it. My old laptop is a dell which had XP Media Center (I decided to get XP instead of Vista when i bought it), When i did the Vista installation, it didn't ask me for the product key. Now I have a Dell with Windows Vista that is registered and everything but I was never asked to enter the product key. Im thinking of using the sticker with the product key in a HP laptop but I would like to know if this will affect my vista installtion in the Dell laptop and/or if the key will work in the HP laptop? OK... So I currently have dial up internet on a wifi enabled laptop. Well, I live in a rural area, so there aren't any DSL providers or other persons with wifi. One of my good friends said I could use his signal and gave me his password. He lives a 1/2 mile away, but there are trees between us. And I can't get a signal. Hello, I need a new laptop. I'm a semi-professional photographer, and have a great set-up. 2 desktops, 1 pc which is a beast, and runs Adobe Master Collection CS4, and an iMac 24" fully upgraded that runs Aperture and CS4 perfectly. But I need a new laptop. I can't go over $1000. So I was looking at the white macbook. But then an hp caught my eye. It's a netbook, but I don't know if it is powerful enough for what the laptop would be used for. Which is; photo editing, but mainly just at the events that I work at, and of course, word-processing, internet browsing and the sort. If I went with the netbook, I would save about $500, which I can invest in some glass (lenses) with.Which one? I'd actually prefer to go with the netbook, but is it powerful enough? And also would the tiny screen, 10.1", drive me crazy? The laptops would mainly be used for quick editing until I got back to either the studio or home. And also the hard drive capacity isn't an issue, I work with wireless hard drives, so nothing is really actually on the computer. Open Question: If you are familar with Mabook Pro and its problems can you answer my question?

Okay. I have a 17inch Macbook Pro with 120 gb of space, 2gb of ram, and a very good video card. Well, it gets really hot in Boot camp even when i try using a lifting pad and SMC fan control and i using for low-end gaming. Nothing too demading. I use it to watch dvds and make and record music on the Mac OSX. Anyway, i was watching a movie yesterday and closed the laptop and wake up in the morning to find out that the computer screen wont turn on and nothing is responding. I hear a beeping noise. I called support and they are going to repair it............but look. If this same thing happens again...........what can i do to prevent this from happening? My hardware gets really hot and i dont know any other fullproof ways to cool it down. What is superb temeptueres for cpu and video cards? Cause when i run it in boot camp...i know it is damaging the hardware and quickening its lifespan. Please answer if you would know how to prevent this from happening again or to other pieces of hardware in my Macbook Pro. more

Open Question: The audio isn't working on my laptop but it was fine a few hours ago?

The audio worked fine on my laptop early this morning. Now it doesn't work. I've tried turning the volume up to max, made sure the mute is off, and clicked the little volume icon on the screen to see if there was anything abnormal going on there- under the properties as well. Unfortunately that's all I really know how to do. I just use the laptop I'm not really big into technology and prefer books to the internet anyway. I do like to listen to music from my laptop while I clean though so if anyone can guess what might be wrong and please attempt to help me out I would really appreciate it! :) if i were you i would pretend that i was explaining what to do to a sock puppet. Open Question: None of my browsers work, how do i fix this?

internet explorer says it cannot display the webpage. I re-installed ie7 but it still doesn't work. I tried everything i could think of. My system restore option is also gone and i get a a windows security alert that my automatic updates is off but i can't turn it on for some reason it wont let me. Every time i turn on the computer i get a error message and a script debugger thing that always pops up at start. Im using my brothers laptop to use the internet now. Open Question: CD Drive Question for Mac Books?

OK so my family just a mac book and im want to put cd in it to upload to itunes. Im use to other laptops were the cd drivehas a button to pull out the cd then you put the cd in then close it , but the mac just has a slot were put the cd. Open Question: Laptop Slowing Down, (1.86GHz, 2046 RAM, Radeon x700)?

Hi people, Here are my Laptop's spec.: Toshiba M60 Satellite M60-144 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.86GHz, 2046 RAM Mobility Radeon x700 Max resolution 1440x900 (im only running it on 12806x800) OS Vista 32-bit SP1 recently my laptop has been slowing down, especially when dealing with video. It used to be fine but recently when i try to stream multiple videos on youtube or some websites with flash. the who laptop slows down drastically. even when i waited all the videos to finish loading, the videos are still laggy. additional problems i am currently having with the monitor: My toshiba used to have heating problems and overheated a few times. as a result some colour vertical lines started appearing on the screen. i have done some research and founded it to be an incurable fault. I thought it was only the connections between the monitor and the motherboards problem, will it also have effects on the speed performance of the laptop? i am sure my laptop was capable to doing multiple video streaming...but somehow its not anymore. i have done a few virus scan but nothing shows. what else can i check to resolve this frustrating problem? thank you in advance. - Denny more

Open Question: TV and Laptop connected via HDMI cable but why isnt it full screen is set a 16:9? Help please!?

Im connected my Flatscreen to my laptop via HDMI cable it transfers sound and picture to the TV but the picture isnt full screen. There huge black lines at the sides and top and bottom? Its like theres just a big square in the middle of the screen which has the picture and the rest is black how can i make the rest picture and therefore make it fullscreen? I have the 32LG2000 if that helps? It can be done because ive seen pictures of people using there laptop and it being fullscreen. Anyone know how i can do this? Also today when i was using my laptop it went full screen but the screen on my laptop was blank. I dont know why it did that but i'd prefer if it was like that where its full screen and the laptop screen is black rather that it having a big square box of picture and picture on the PC. I have 2 computers in my house. One main computer upstairs, and my laptop downstairs. My main computer says its connected to the internet/linksys but it says "This computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured." I have read that you still need USB connection while you are installing a wireless printer. Is this true? Is there a way to install the software without having to use USB.
